This program aims to raise community awareness about disability issues and enhance the skills of workers in this field. The training sessions will take place at the association's main branch in Cairo, as well as at its branches in Beni Suef, Minya, Asyut, and Sohag.
Dr. Ayman Al-Tantawy, Executive Director of Kayaan Association, confirmed that the association is launching the intensive training program as part of its annual agenda aimed at improving the reality of disability in Egypt. This will be achieved by utilizing the best training capacities available in the field and implementing the latest training programs currently used worldwide.
Al-Tantawy added that the association's intensive training program will include specialized training courses in the field of disability, encompassing the latest educational and training programs in special education, focusing on training specialists in various disciplines related to disability. Additionally, the program will also include administrative programs that help specialists in associations enhance their managerial capabilities to contribute to the development and construction of the organizations they work with.
Al-Tantawy explained that the association's training program will also include training programs for individuals with disabilities, aimed at building their skills that qualify them for work. It will also organize awareness seminars on disability and the rights of persons with disabilities and provide awareness for their families, focusing on the development and empowerment of these children and assisting institutions that work in this field to strengthen their capacities in order to help persons with disabilities and their families overcome the challenges they face in society, schools, and the workplace.
Dr. Muhammad Sabri, Director of the Kayaan Training and Consulting Center, confirmed that the Kayaan training program for the upcoming period will consist of approximately 300 training hours, benefiting around 280 to 300 participants in the field of disability (both families and specialists) across the five governorates.
Sabri noted that the training plan will include community-based rehabilitation training, which the association is contributing to by establishing more than eight new units in this field in the villages of Beni Suef, Minya, Asyut, and Sohag. Through this program, specialists will be trained to use community-based rehabilitation strategies to deliver rehabilitation services to children with disabilities and their families in some underprivileged villages in Upper Egypt. The association will also train workers in partner associations on community-based rehabilitation strategies in some of these governorates.
Sabri added that the plan will include organizing training programs in family counseling and training programs for individuals with multiple disabilities, as well as administrative training for institutions working in the field of disability, such as strategic planning for organizations involved in special education. Training will also be provided on measuring the effectiveness of the skills received by specialists, as well as working with children with cerebral palsy. Additionally, updated training in modern educational programs in the field of autism will be included (such as Applied Behavior Analysis - ABA) and specialized training in cognitive development programs for children, including Montessori programs (which train children using their various senses and through tangible and visual sensory tools) and specialized training in sensory integration and psychomotor skills programs.
It is noteworthy that Kayaan Association for Persons with Disabilities aims to provide a comprehensive model for effective civil work in the field of disability, not only at the level of Cairo or the capitals of governorates but also at the level of cities, villages, and hamlets throughout Egypt, especially in the underprivileged villages of Upper Egypt.
