"Kayaan is celebrating the World Syndrome Awareness Week with an awareness seminar, free screenings, and the shutting off of fluorescent lights."

Kayaan Training and Consulting Center, affiliated with Kayaan Association for Persons with Disabilities, in collaboration with Erlen Center Egypt, is organizing an awareness seminar to introduce Erlen Syndrome next Monday at 11 AM at the association's headquarters, 12 Mohamed Shalabi Street, Hadayek Al-Quba. Dr. Rasha Anwar, the Director of Erlen Center Egypt and an internationally certified specialist from the Erlen Institute in the United States, will be the speaker at the seminar.

Dr. Mohamed Sabri, Director of Kayaan Training Center, confirmed that the seminar is part of Kayaan Association's celebrations for the World Awareness Week for Erlen Syndrome, which coincides with this week. During the seminar, five free mini screenings will be conducted for children who struggle with reading. Additionally, the association's celebrations include a call to turn off fluorescent lights on Tuesday, October 20th, at 10 AM to raise awareness about the effects of light sensitivity in individuals with the syndrome.

Sabri explained that Kayaan Association aims, through organizing such events, to raise community awareness about the latest scientific developments in various fields of disability.

For her part, Dr. Rasha Anwar explained that Erlen Syndrome, or night vision syndrome, refers to the sensitivity to certain wavelengths of light that interfere with visual processing. It is a functional impairment in perception that affects a child's ability to see clearly, leading to difficulties in reading. The child faces issues with light sources on one hand and printed pages in black and white, particularly on the other hand. Strong light causes interference, making the child perceive the page as distorted under bright lighting or when reading under white light.

Dr. Anwar indicated that the syndrome is easy to detect and treat using out-of-body techniques in the form of colored lens glasses that result in immediate improvement. She emphasized that failure to identify and address this issue could lead to significant challenges in the educational journey and an increased risk of dropping out of school.
